Welcome to Shorelines Arts Festival 2025 for a feast of dance, music, literature, drama, film, exhibitions, workshops, street entertainment and more.
The Art Exhibition launch showcases rising local star John Luke with poetry from Doire Press. The festival itself kicks off again this year with a night of set dancing from Rise the Dust. Concert highlights feature The Music of Nina Simone with Karen Underwood and In Concert with Paul Noonan (of BellX1 fame); rock ‘n roll, soul, country, bluegrass, and traditional Irish with 4Men and a Bass as well as classical music from Ora String Quartet and ConTempo Quartet. Theatre performances include the latest solo show KING from Pat Kinevane, the bi-lingual comedy show For The Love Of Milseáin with Áine Gallagher, and Portumna Players in Last Tango in Little Boula.
For fans of all things literary, we have author Christine Dwyer Hickey in conversation with Niall MacMonagle, John McGahern’s Insights into Irish Life with Prof. Tom Inglis and sporting legend Joe Canning interviewed by Austin O’Callaghan. Saturday lunchtime is Take Five at The Ferry Inn featuring five books and five poems recommended by Niall MacMonagle and Grace Wilentz, with Noelle Lynskey. Events with a local connection include A Magdalene Rose by Frank Brehany, Connections and Reflections by Sandra Lefroy, Loretto Leary’s Famine Emigrants talk and That Beats Banagher! by James Scully.
Street entertainment includes the return of SambaWave, Áine Gallagher with her Cup of Focals and a whole day of family fun (Story Tumble, The Big Dig, Silk Painting, Hobby Horse Crafting, Face Painting and a Magician) at the Workhouse and the Library. A feast of Visual Arts Exhibitions awaits you at the Workhouse, the Courthouse and Portumna Castle. Don’t miss James Mac and his Makeup X Art Masterclass. The festival as always is rounded off with our usual wide range of workshops, Shorelines film shorts and documentaries and a schools programme.
