Irish Arts Festivals Archive (IAFA)
From its modest beginnings in 2008, Shorelines Arts Festival has become an established and much loved annual celebration of the arts in East Galway. In recognition it’s cultural importance, the organisation has accepted an invitation to house Shorelines Arts Festival’s material archive in the Irish Arts Festivals Archive (IAFA) which is part of the UCD Library Cultural Heritage Collections. IAFA is a unique collection of documents and publications representing the rich and diverse landscape of forty years of arts festivals in Ireland.
To coincide with the 2024 Shorelines Arts Festival, the IAFA will publish an in-depth interview by Dr. David Teevan with the festival’s founder and former Artistic Director, Noelle Lynskey. In the interview, Noelle shares her recollection of the setting up of the festival, talks about some of the challenges faced over the years, and remembers fondly the big and little moments that made it all worthwhile. This interview will be published in the IAFA Oral History Project - a series of interviews to complement and enhance the documents held in the IAFA archive collection.
