GUBU After 40 Years

​​GUBU, a recent podcast series presented by Harry McGee, political correspondent with The Irish Times, tells the story of killer Malcolm Macarthur and how his crimes impacted the government of Taoiseach Charles Haughey.

Harry is joined by Portumna native and RTE Prime Time reporter, Rita O’Reilly to discuss the bizarre history and what led Harry to producing this podcast.

​Harry McGee is political correspondent with The Irish Times. He previously worked for RTÉ, The Irish Examiner, The 
Sunday Tribune and Magill Magazine, having started off his career with The Connacht Tribune. He has also presented and written documentaries on politics.

He researched, wrote, produced and presented the seven-part GUBU series for The Irish Times. 

He is originally from Salthill in Galway but now lives in Dublin.

​Rita O’Reilly is the award-winning reporter behind several RTÉ Prime Time, Prime Time Investigates and RTÉ Investigates 
​
programmes. Her journalism has contributed to political and legislative change. 

​She is from Portumna.
