The Great Hunger is a long poem adapted for stage. Join Peter Duffy for a powerful theatrical performance of Patrick Kavanagh’s poem The Great Hunger. Generally considered to be Kavanagh’s finest work, The Great Hunger sharply delineates a life of economic and imaginative privation. Peter Duffy himself grew up on a small Monaghan farm so has a ready affinity for Kavanagh’s material which informs and shines through his absorbing interpretation of the work. After the performance the artist will be open to engaging in discussion.
