James Scully will speak on his new book That Beats Banagher: A Humorous Expression of Amusement which he co-authored with Kieran Keenaghan. In a richly illustrated talk, he will touch on Banagher’s literary associations, especially Sir Mathew De Renzy, Charlotte Brontë and Anthony Trollope.

​James Scully is a native of Tullamore in Offaly. He is now a retired primary school teacher who writes on the heritage of West Offaly, particularly the Grand Canal and Napoleonic Fortifications on the mid-Shannon.​
