Welcome!
The Shorelines Stories consist of short radio plays exploring the lives, loves, wants and regrets of people who’ve made their home here in Portumna. From a man remembering his wife who he would dance with to Lyric FM every Sunday on the Marina or a ghost from the Poorhouse trapped here until today, the short plays come together to form an audio impression of Portumna from the eyes and mouths of some fictional residents.
Richard sits on the Marina and listens to Lyric FM on the breeze and dreams of the life he has lived and the love he has held so very dear.

Rachel sits on a bench on the main street of Portumna and unexpectedly, unexpected most of all by her, she tells a story.

A ghost of a woman who died in 1863 sits in a coffee shop in 2022 and finds that for the first time since she's died she can be heard.

Shorelines Stories are a series of audio pieces created by Ultan Pringle after his visit to the festival in 2021.
He interviewed locals, chatted among the community, using the stories he garnered as inspiration for these pieces.
He also used the historic buildings and community areas as backdrops for the pieces.
Thank you to Aoife Conneely, Máirin Hayes and Conor McAnally for giving voice to the scripts.
It was a pleasure for Shorelines to work with Ultan Pringle and we wish him success in his future career.
Watch out for more Stories to come too!
