Shorelines 2008
The Shorelines Arts Festival will run from Thursday evening, 11th September, until Sunday afternoon, 14th September.
The festival features a fresh line-up of art exhibitions, writing workshops, photographic exhibitions, a youth theatre workshop for teens, drama and dance for children, african drumming for all ages and a car treasure hunt, readings and lots of fun, all organised by Portumna Arts Group with financial assistance from Galway County Council, Poetry Ireland, Portumna Credit Union, Portumna Lions Club, and other local businesses and groups. For a full list of our sponsors, visit our sponsors page.
We are delighted to be hosting an exhibition of work by photographer Joe Geoghegan (who has recently photographed the left eye of a number of poets and then asked them to write a composition based on the photographs). This exhibition is called "Eye of the Beholder" and really is a must see.
For a full list of events, visit our events page.
Portumna Camera Club will be on board to document the weekend and will have an exhibition of work on display in the town for the duration of the weekend.
Some of the work displayed will be the subject of forthcoming calendar that is being produced by Portumna Camera Club. Stay tuned for more details. In short, we believe there is, at the risk of a cliché, something for everyone.
