The Park Singers are a four-part female choir from Dublin, formed in 1970 by Seán Creamer. The choir’s name came about as the original choir members were all attending the primary school in the Phoenix Park. Over time, the Park Singers expanded its numbers with girls who had participated in the National Children’s Choir, which was also set up by Mr. Creamer. In 2007, his daughter, Órla Gillan, took over at the helm.
Over the years the choir performed in many venues throughout Ireland including the National Concert Hall, Christ Church, The Helix and Cork City Hall. The Park Singers were named the Choir of the Festival at the 2011 Cork International Choral Festival. More recently, the choir won best overall choir at the Sligo International Choral Festival 2016. Overseas the Park Singers have gained recognition at festivals in cities such as Llandudno, Chester, and Prague, and in April of this year they were placed in the gold category at the Festival di Verona 2017.
