Launch of Shorelines Arts Festival - YOU'RE Invited!

Shorelines Arts Festival will be officially launched on Thursday 22nd Sept. 2011 at 16:00 in the VEC Buildings by Michael D. Higgins, poet, patron of the arts, and Labour Party Presidential Candidate.

That's the good news. Here's the great news: YOU'RE iNVITED - please come along.

New Launch Time for Shorelines Arts Festival Portumna

Due to committments with the presidential election race, Michael D. Higgins will not be able to perform the opening of the Shorelines Arts Festival at the pre-specified time on Thursday 22nd Sept.

He has, however, committed to opening the festival at 4:00 on the same day, Thursday 22nd September at the recently refurbished VEC buildings in Portumna.

Change of Venues for Declan O'Rourke and Delia Murphy

Due to the recent fire at Shannon Oaks Hotel, Declan O'Rourke's concert and the Delia Murphy play will now not be performed there.

We have secured alternative venues for both events now.

Terryglass Cottages offer Discounted Accommodation for Shorelines Arts Festival

Terryglass Cottages have told us that they are reducing the accommodation rates for the weekend of Shorelines Arts Festival.

Their new rates will be as follows for the weekend:

€80pps - 3 night’s self-catering accommodation & 1 Dinner.

Shorelines Arts...

Shorelines Arts Festival have reached their fundraising target of €3000 on Fundit.

After an almost six week campaign, the organisers of Shorelines Arts Festival Portumna are delighted, and humbled, by the generosity of people from Portumna (and surrounding areas) in supporting our fundraising drive, especially during such difficult financial times.

Speaking about this, Mark Conroy, who organised the Fundit campaign, had the following to say,

"The money pledged will ensure that we can continue to bring the best of the arts to East Galway, allowing our community to enjoy such a vital component of our culture without having to travel further afield. It shows that there is a huge appetite for the arts in East Galway, an area of Ireland that seems to be one of the most vibrant in the country when it comes to the arts. On behalf of the Shorelines Arts Festival committee, I want to extend the heartiest of thanks to all who pledged money to us and the goodwill they are showing towards our arts festival by doing so."
