EVENTS OVER THE WEEKEND
Various Locations over the weekend. Check Facebook and website for location and times.
The largest deer species ever, Megaloceros, arrived into Ireland 37,000 years ago. It is thought these giant deer became extinct in Ireland before people are known to have arrived. Shorelines recreates this giant deer and he will make his way to Portumna with the creative skills of Donnacha Cahill using mild steel.
Dance Out across the timelines of Shorelines is an intergenerational project involving members of Portumna’s Active Retirement Association, Sign Out Youth Café and students of St Brendan’s National School.
Eamonn Byrne will spend the weekend creating a portrait of a local, familiar face. See the developing canvas and watch an artist at work at various locations.
Portumna Community School hosts a photographic portraiture exhibition as a record of people in Portumna and surrounding district, 25 years into the life of the school and 100 years into the life of the reborn Irish nation.
This is a project that challenges alcoholism in Ireland today using cloth to evoke awareness and empathy.
